  • Upcoming performances
  • Job opportunities
  • Resources for dance people (please, no regular class schedules. However, we encourage you to list contact information for those interested in finding out your class schedule)

TEACHING POSITION AVAILABLE

Growing dance studio seeks long term instructor beginning fall '08. Teaching experience & dance degree or certification preferred. Classes include jazz, tap, hip hop, & contemporary lyrical/jazz. Instructor should be able to incorporate ballet technique into lessons. Hours: Thursdays 3 - 8 pm, with possible additional hours Friday or Saturday. Location: Cape Ann. Pay: Competitive. GLOUCESTER FLEET DANCE TEAM (Semi-professional football, Eastern Football League)

The dance team is looking for women 18 and over with dance, cheering, or gymnastic experience. Registration: Thursday, April 24, 7-9 pm, at the Harbor House Restaurant, Gloucester. This is only a very brief list. There are lots of wonderful books out there, from biographies to "how to" books, from martial arts to ballroom to ethnic to classical dance. Let's remember the power & pleasure of dancing!

The Exit Dance Theatre is holding it's Annual Spring Performance during April 11-12 at the Firehouse Center for the Arts. In its 21st season, the Exit Dance Theatre introduces six new works in its performance of The Cruelest Month at 8:00 pm.

Choreographers Fontaine Dollas Dubus, Nicole Duquette, Erin Foley, Sarah George, Wendy Hamel and Cheryl Fisher-Schwind explore love, loss, confinement and evolution. (See the press release.)

Dancers in Exit’s spring performance include Dubus, Darlene Doyle, Duquette, Foley, George, Hamel, Edward Speck and Patricia Walsh.

And from Boston, guest choreographer, Adrienne Mincz, formerly of Impulse Dance Co. among others, adds her expressive touch to the repertoire!

The performances are at 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $18 for adults and $16 for students. For more information, call the Firehouse at 978-462-7336.

The Marblehead School of Ballet's Summer Dance Intensive will be held Monday through Friday from July 14 through July 25, 2008. Join us for a unique opportunity to study many different aspects of dance in a challenging and fun environment. Classes include ballet, modern, pointe (if applicable) stretch & strength, folk dance, music theory, anatomy, injury prevention and more!
